Well, I'm a Christian. Don't get pushy asking me why. I'm a Christian because I want to be. I know my parents try pushing it off on me and that's how I was raised, but that's not the reason. I choose to be Christian, because I've always felt strongly about it. I've always believed in God ever since I was younger, and still strongly believe in him. Whenever something bad happens, I always find myself praying. Or when I do something bad, I always feel guilty about it and apologize. So, that's just the way I am. I'm not going to push my religion onto any of you, nor am I going to say it's the only right religion. It's just what I believe, and I am entitled to that belief and right as a human being. I was always raised as a christian but I have always believed in god 2. I also believe there is a heaven and a hell. I do that to. When ever something bad happens I always turn to god. I dont like it when other people push their religion on people though. I think its wrong. Yes Thankyou Aspen. We are titled to that right! Really it is no one's buisness to say that any religion is better than another or that which one is right!

But feel free to explain yourself if you can. Kara and Aspen have done that, but if have anything to add, please do.

That's a story of your life... I suppose it tells why you go to the church you go to, but I was looking for something more personal. Like, is there a certain way you feel about aspects of that religion that makes you want to follow it?

Oh, hahaha... the fact is that it personally really DOESN'T affect alot of people. They're in church because of some older influence, simply waiting for the old people to die of old age to escape the travesty of religion.
If not, then I'd really like to know what goal (that truly, honestly motivates you) you expect to reach while in church. I refuse to admit that someone who really follows a religion at the fragile teenage stage of their life actually dedicates their time to this belief.
Sorry if I offend anyone.

My parents and I don't attend church. We don't go because it simply doesn't suit us. I mean yeah, we believe in God and everything, but we're not extremely religious. We don't feel that we have to go to church just because other Christians say if we don't go, we won't go to heaven. I've been told that many times before. And if you know my friend Tracy Pitcock, she's very annoying about religion. Her dad's a preacher, and she's too religious sometimes. She's all the time implying that I'm going to hell for various reasons. Such as: sex before marriage, I never go to church, I do witchcraft sometimes (I'm not a Satanist lol), and just other little things I do. It kills me! I'm not that bad of a person, and I try to do good things in my life. So not all Christians are extremely religious, or judgemental. People have been complaining because of some of the things being said on the forum. The Christian religion is being singled out specifically, and it's wrong. Some of you say you're tolerant of other religions, but yet you're saying bad things about a certain one. I'm not trying to get anything started, but I'm tired of all the complaints.

I'm sorry, I get carried away. I need to know where the line of debate is crossed.

It's ok, it's just things are getting a little crazy around here. I wasn't really blaming you or a specific person. In just about every thread, the topic gets thrown off onto religion, and I'm pretty sure you've seen where it's happened. It's kind of annoying when things get thrown off topic so much. A lot of arguing has also taken place about different things. Everyone's grammar, religion, and just arguments over power on the forum. I just don't want people to get upset and quit the forum because of little things that are said. So, I apologize for going off on people in the 'admin election' thread, and any other place where I've seemed bitchy. Let's just all try to get along please....I guess that sounds a little cheesy.

It's not that I'm trying to single out the Christian religion... I'm perfectly willing to argue about any religion. The only reason I'm arguing about it specifically, is because there is no one on here with a different religion to talk about other than Luigi, I, and raven13 (who I was waiting for a response from for Aspen's question).

I'm agnostic as well (oh boy, another one!) lol I used to very religious, I went to church with my family, I prayed every night and at every meal, I was a devout christian. But somewhere down the road, I'm going to say around 4th or 5th grade I started to doubt a bit. My father got sick and my mom became depressed, so we stopped going to church as often and eventually stopped altogether. Then, a horrible tragedy hit my family and I've never felt the same about god, religion, and faith ever since. Towards the end of 7th grade I started realizing that my mother was not always right, and I shouldn't believe that everything she believes in is true, or the only explanation. I started to come out of my "prefect child" phase, and I became a teenager (oh fun). I've always had compassion for other people, and so when my uncle (he's a preacher in Michigan) told me why people were going to hell, I thought "that is wrong" you shouldn't go to hell because you believe in something that's not "correct", you shouldn't go to hell just because you are in a certain part of the world and haven't been taught any better. I'm not saying don't believe, please do believe in whatever you want. Everyone needs something to believe in, it gets us through life. I'd like to believe that there is a god, there is a heaven and a hell. Bad people go to hell, evil people, and good, true people go to heaven. That's really what I want to happen. I don't want to be reincarnated, I don't want to just disappear, I don't want to walk the earth as a spirit or ghost. I want to be reunited with the people I love, and be happy. But I just don't know, no one does, there is no proof of anything, and that's why I consider myself agnostic.

I don't see why people should go to hell for not having the correct religion even if they've never done any evil. Although, I think reincarnation would be very neat.

Debating is hard when we're on the same side. Yeah, I agree with that too. I find religion to be a bit unproductive and time wasting...

Yes it is, but if we didn't think alike, would we be such good friends?
I never said it was unproductive and time wasting... so maybe we do disagree on that. I think people try to do what they think is right, they try to be "good to their neighbor" and love everyone, but they fail sometimes, as mankind often does. I love what religion stands for, I hate how it is executed and interpreted, and all the hypocrites.
I wouldn't want to come back as an animal or another person... I would want to be with my loved ones, and I definitely don't want to have to go through life again...ugh. Why is reincarnation so appealing to you though?

I don't know. I just find that spending two hours in a church every Sunday to be... time wasting. I just think if they have text, they don't really need to meet. If I take 2 hours out of my life every Sunday, it adds up. I've just felt like I should have been doing something else.
People fail. I feel religion has drifted from it's roots. It's no longer about goodness... it's about serving some being. It's just so hard to believe when you find out so many things you used to believe in were fake. When you tell some 5 year old that magic doesn't exist, or that something you taught them to believe in doesn't exist (like how is a kid supposed to believe in jesus if they find out that something like Santa Claus isn't real, just some clever lie)
I'm just saying. It's hard to put faith in these things. If there are so many religions and there's only one (after all... there's only one answer to religion according to the competition of religions... there's even branches of the same religion. What is a man supposed to do about that?), how can someone not believe religion to be time wasting and troublesome?
