I thought it would smashing if we discussed our theories on life from it's roots.
Many controversies have been made over the years, and no answer has been reached. I don't expect a correct answer, I just want everyone to express how they feel life started.
I believe that natural energy (usually consisted of electrons, heat, and atoms, correct?) eventually generated the first forms of bacteria through the combination of temperature elements and electric energy. Eventually this organism adapted and evolved into early cells.
I believe that life is more machine like than it realizes.

Hmmm... this will probably turn into a religion thread if arguments start up. I will try to tone it down though. I have several theories about how life came to be, one of which being what Luigi said.

I agree with Sheri, I have a feeling this will turn into a religion thread. So, let's just try not to say anything negative about any religion, especially Christianity. It is an easy target though. I have different ideas of how life started. One, being because of my religion. It says God created everything, but I don't entirely feel like it's true. I'm not a religious freak. I'm a very spiritual person, so I also look at some of the aspects of the Wiccan religion. I think reincarnation is also a possibility. Do you ever get the feeling that you've lived once before? Evolution is also possible, but I'm not sure on it. They say that we evolved from monkeys, so what about the ones that are still monkeys today? Are they just genetic defects that never made it all the way through the stages of evolution? To a human stage? I don't know. There are other things that I think are possible. I just think that no one knows, no matter what your religion is.

Reincarnation would be cool.
And Aspen, evolution doesn't necessarily mean we came from monkeys. Maybe we are a branch off of the apes... like a type of monkey. We are similar. There are gorillas, orangutans, lemurs, and maybe, us.

Hmm... I've never thought of it that way. Thanks for expanding my view a little wider.

That's just how I think of it... I remember in 7th grade when Mrs. Emberton was talking about evolution. And afterward she said something like this:
"But obviously, if we came from monkeys, there wouldn't be any left today."
... stupid closed-minded teachers.

Meh, I don't really want to think reincarnation is the answer... I'd like to have... memory...

If reincarnation was to be correct, maybe we choose not to have memories. What if, by time you get to the point of choosing your next life, you decide you'd like to start new?

True, but you really can't avoid making the same mistakes again. I feel it's important to partake in as many experiences as possible so you can lead the next life more skillfully.

But by starting new, you get to experience life all over again. Wouldn't it be boring if you knew what to expect? And what if you have bad memories (liking losing a loved one or something) that you don't want to remember because it will scar you?

I wouldn't know. Or would I? It is possible that we have all experienced such painful memory... to want it erased. Perhaps there is some stage between life and death back to life that is so horrible we don't want to remember.

ok Bobert No way Random at all. i myself Have 2 main Theories.
The Evolution and then Christianity view.
Evolution-I think we came from chimpanzees. and Like Sheri said. If we did Evolve from them then the monkeys that are hear today had to be defects. (Im not racist but look how much black people look like Apes...)
Christianity-God Created everything and everything on it. I believe he created the world but when did he create people. Im sure everyone knows the story of Adam and Eve. Was that before of After Dinosaurs? Because Scietnitsts know how long ago Dinosaurs lived but when did Adam and Eve live?

Perhaps, like my dad thinks, all life that we know of takes place within one single atom of a greater life, or compared to us, a god.
